Minjar ( Russian Миньяр ) is a city in Chelyabinsk Oblast ( Russia ) with 10,194 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located on the western flank of the Southern Urals about 360 km west of the Oblast capital Chelyabinsk on the Sim , a right tributary of the Belaja, which flows into the Kama .
Minjar belongs to Rajon Ascha .
The city is located on the southern route of the Trans-Siberian Railway Moscow - Samara - Chelyabinsk - Omsk (route kilometers 1745 from Moscow). The M5 Moscow – Chelyabinsk highway runs a few kilometers south of the city .
history
Minjar was established in 1771 in connection with the construction of the Minjarsky Zavod ironworks . The plant was put into operation in 1784 and was an important supplier of roofing sheets to the governorates of Central Russia at the end of the 18th and early 19th centuries . On May 14, 1943, the place was given city rights under its current name.

Culture and sights
In the city center there is a church from the end of the 18th century and monuments of industrial architecture from the 19th century.
An alpine skiing center of regional importance is located near the city.
economy
There are two large gravel quarries and a screw factory in Minjar .
