Kirill Olegowitsch Sossunow ( Russian Кирилл Олегович Сосунов , English transcription Kirill Sosunov ; born November 1, 1975 in Ryazan ) is a Russian long jumper whose greatest success was the 1998 European Championship.

Sossunow won his first international title in 1995 at the Universiade in Fukuoka with 8.21 m. With the same distance as the second-placed German Georg Ackermann , Sossunow won because of the better second-best attempt. At the European Indoor Championships in Stockholm in 1996 he was seventh with 7.87 m.

1997 was second Sossunow at the World Indoor Championships in Paris . With 8.41 m he was ten centimeters behind Iván Pedroso from Cuba and tied with Joe Greene from the USA, again the better second best attempt was decisive. At the first U23 European Championships in Turku, he lost to the Portuguese Carlos Calado by two centimeters with 8.30 m . In Athens at the 1997 World Championships he won bronze with 8.18 m, but was clearly behind Ivan Pedroso and the American Erick Walder .

On June 27, 1998, Sossunov set up his best outdoor distance of 8.38 m in his European Cup victory in Saint Petersburg. At the European Championships in Budapest in 1998, Sossunow jumped the greatest distance in qualifying with 8.14 m. In the final he reached 8.28 m in the third attempt. He won the title seven centimeters ahead of the Romanian Bogdan Țăruş .

In the years that followed, Sossunow was repeatedly involved in major championships, but could no longer win a medal. At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 and in Athens in 2004 , he failed each in sixteenth in the qualification. At the European Indoor Championships in Vienna in 2002, he was fifth with 8.02 m. In Budapest at the World Indoor Championships in 2004 , he was only seventh despite 8.16 m.

With a height of 1.90 m and a competition weight of 86 kg, Sossunov, unusually strong for a long jumper, never became Russian champion, but represented his country a total of five times at the European Cup, where he won in 1997 and 1998. Sossunow is married to the high jumper Olga Kaliturina . In the 2006/2007 Bobsleigh World Cup, he came second in the sixth competition in the team of Yevgeny Popw .
