La Bosse is a French commune with a population of 74 (as at 1st January 2017) in the Doubs department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
La Bosse is located at 1040 m , ten kilometers north-northeast of Morteau and about 14 kilometers west of the city of La Chaux-de-Fonds (as the crow flies). The village extends in the Jura , in a panoramic position on the ridge of Le Mémont, which rises in the southwest of the high plateau of Maîche.
The area of the 5.13 km² municipality covers a section of the French Jura. The main part of the area is taken up by the wide ridge of Le Mémont. From a geological and tectonic point of view, this ridge forms an anticline of the Jura folds and is oriented in the south-west-north-east direction in accordance with the direction of the mountains in this region. A valley divides it into two ridges, namely the ridge of La Bosse with pasture land and the wooded Bois Banal ( 1050 m ). The Bois de la Malcombe valley is on the ridge . To the northeast, the community area extends to the summit of Mont Repentir (at 1052 m the highest elevation of La Bosse) on the western edge of the Le Mémont basin. In the north, the area extends down the slope to the edge of the plateau at Le Luhier.
Neighboring communities of La Bosse are Mont-de-Laval in the north, Le Bizot in the east, Le Bélieu in the south and Guyans-Vennes in the west.
history
In the Middle Ages, La Bosse belonged to the rule of Réaumont, which was under the sovereignty of the Lords of Montfaucon and from the 15th century under that of the Counts of Montbéliard. Together with Franche-Comté , the village came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.
On January 1, 2009 there was a change in the arrondissement membership of the municipality. Previously belonging to the arrondissement of Montbéliard , all municipalities of the canton came to the arrondissement of Pontarlier.

With 74 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), La Bosse is one of the smallest communities in the Doubs department. After the population in the first half of the 20th century had always been in the range between 120 and 130 people, a significant population decline was recorded up to the turn of the millennium.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, La Bosse was predominantly a village characterized by agriculture (cattle breeding and dairy farming) and forestry. Even today, the residents live mainly from their work in the first sector. Outside the primary sector there are very few jobs in the village. Some workers are also commuters who work in the surrounding larger towns.
The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a departmental road that leads from Le Russey to Le Bélieu. There are further road connections with Le Luhier and Le Bizot.
