The 1958/59 season was the 13th season of the Class A as the highest Soviet ice hockey league . The ZSK MO Moscow secured the Soviet championship title for the seventh time .

mode

The 17 teams in Class A were divided into two groups before the start of the season according to the previous year's placement, with only the participants in the first group playing for the championship.

Each participant played three times in the main round against each group opponent, whereby the number of games per team was 27 and 24 respectively. The team with the most points became champions. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
