coat of arms

The draft of the municipal coat of arms of Dahlum comes from the Wolfenbüttel State Archives . It was drawn by the heraldist and coat of arms painter Gustav Völker , who designed all coats of arms in the Hanover region. On March 1, 1974, through a merger of the localities of Groß Dahlum and Klein Dahlum, the municipality of Dahlum was created. The district of Wolfenbüttel approved the wish of the community to continue the old coat of arms of Groß Dahlum, which was approved by the Lower Saxony Minister of the Interior on October 31, 1952 .

Dahlum coat of arms
Blazon : "In the divided shield above in red a striding right-wing golden lion , below in gold, two black rafters sprinkledwith red hearts on the field."
Justification of the coat of arms: The lion, which is depicted welfisch , indicates the centuries-long rule of the Brunswick state , which was exercised here at the seat of the Voigtdahlum office . The lower part of the shield shows the coat of arms of the noble von Dahlum family , who had their ancestral seat in the municipality.

Culture and sights

  • The village church of St. Marien in Groß-Dahlum was built in 1820 as a pure, classicist building on the previous church, first mentioned in 1317.
  • The fortified church in Klein-Dahlum, which dates from the 12th century, has a small church bell that was cast by Hans Wilcken in 1612 and a large bell that was cast by Heiso Meyer in 1662 .

Economy and Infrastructure

Since 2013, a "rolling doctor's practice" has been coming to the town regularly as part of a pilot project in order to ensure a minimum of medical care.

The federal road 82 crosses the town from west to east and connects it with Schöppenstedt and Schöningen .
