Miloševo ( Cyrillic : Милошево ) is a village in the Negotin Opština in the Bor district in eastern Serbia . It is three kilometers north of Negotin .

Geographical location

Miloševo is located in the Opština Negotin , one of the easternmost municipalities in Serbia , in Okrug Bor in central Serbia . The village is located in the northern part of the Timočka Krajina region , and thus at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains .

Nature and water

The Jasenička Reka flows through part of the village and marks the northern border of Miloševo. There the river is also spanned by two small bridges . It flows into the Danube around 20 kilometers downstream .

The village is located east of the foot of the Carpathian Mountains . The center of Miloševo is located on a small hill about ten meters high. That is why the village is unofficially divided into two districts: Donjo Miloševo (German Lower Miloševo ) in the north and Gornjo Miloševo (German Upper Miloševo ) in the south.

The village is a mixture of a round square village and a scattered settlement . Originally Miloševo was built around the square where the House of Culture is now located. In the last few decades, however, the characteristics of a scattered settlement have become clearer.

History and name

Early history

The village is first mentioned in Ottoman records of the region in 1530 . At that time the village probably still had a Turkish name. It was only later called Okruglac (dt. Runder ). The Vlachian name Kolograš (often incorrectly called Koroglaš) is derived from this. This referred to the shape of Miloševo, as the village was then built around the cultural cathedral ( okolo Doma Kulture ).

Riots and Serbia

During the First and Second Serbian Uprising , the village was not yet annexed to Serbia. Only with the extension of the Serbian borders decided at the Berlin Congress did it come under Serbian rule. Miloševo kept its old name until the end of the 19th century. It was then renamed Miloševo after Miloš Obrenović .

Miloševo and Yugoslavia

During the Second World War the village was awarded to Bulgaria . Miloševo was occupied by German , Italian , Croatian and Bulgarian units. In the course of the liberation by Tito's partisans and the Soviet Red Army , numerous buildings were damaged and people were killed.

At the time of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia , the power lines were laid in 1954 and the house of culture was built in 1955. In 1974 the underground water pipes with today's 4 wells were laid and built. In 1982 the roads were paved and in 1984 Miloševo was connected to the state telephone network.

In 2008, new signs were installed to mark the Danube Cycle Path. This company was funded by the European Union .

Residents

After numerous fluctuations in the course of time, the population decreased sharply after the Yugoslav wars, as numerous residents emigrated to work abroad as " guest workers ".

Culture

The culture house ( Dom Kulture ), built in 1955, is a striking landmark of the village. As in other places in the area, cultural events are held throughout the year. The house is in the center of the village, on the top of the hill, and is the main meeting place for the villagers.

There is also a memorial from the Second World War . It is supposed to commemorate the Serbian soldiers who defended the village against the fascists .

Kolograš Monastery

In the immediate vicinity is the Serbian Orthodox monastery Kolograš ( Manastir Kolograš ), also known as Markov Manastir, which today is only preserved as a ruin. The Serbian King Stefan Uroš II Milutin had it built at the beginning of the 14th century. Folk tales suggest that Marko Kraljević was buried here when he swam across the Danube after his last successful campaign and died in the Timočka Krajina region . In the monastery itself there are numerous frescoes that are still well preserved. There is a partially excavated necropolis around the monastery .

education

There is a primary school in the village , which was built in 1896 and restored in 1935. Since there was only one school, most of the residents went to the schools in Negotin City, three kilometers away . Today all the children in the village go to the schools in Negotin and they are thinking about closing the school. In the last school year, 2006/2007, only five students went to the village school.

Sports

The stadium in 2008

To the south of the village is the “Stadium” Miloševo. It is a grass pitch with a grandstand with three rows of seats. It is the home ground of the football club FK Miloševo, which plays in the regional league and was founded in 1947.

Infrastructure

Most of the roads in the southern part of the village were paved in 1982. There the transit traffic flows to Vidrovac and the other, more distant villages and towns. In addition, part of the Danube Cycle Path runs through the southern part of the village.
