The Lotte / Osnabrück motorway intersection (abbreviation: AK Lotte / Osnabrück ; short form: Lotte / Osnabrück intersection ; colloquially also called Lotter Kreuz ) is a motorway intersection in North Rhine-Westphalia . It connects the federal highway 1 ( Heiligenhafen - Hamburg - Cologne - Saarbrücken ; E 37 ) with the federal highway 30 ( Enschede - Bad Oeynhausen ; E 30 ).

geography

The cross is right on the border with Lower Saxony , but is in North Rhine-Westphalia. It is located in the municipality of Lotte in the Westphalian region of Tecklenburger Land . The surrounding cities and communities are Hasbergen and Osnabrück . Immediately to the east of the cross is the border point between the city of Osnabrück, the district of Osnabrück and the district of Steinfurt. It is located about 10 km west of Osnabrück city center, about 35 km east of Rheine and about 40 km northeast of Münster .

The motorway junction is near the TERRA.vita nature park , on the edge of the Teutoburg Forest .

Since 1968 it has connected the important east-west transit route in the form of the A 30 ( E 30 ) from Warsaw via Berlin and Hanover to Amsterdam with the A 1 ( E 37 ) between the Ruhr area and Hamburg known as the "Hansalinie" .

The Lotte / Osnabrück motorway junction has junction number 72 on the A 1 and number 14 on the A 30.

Design and state of development

The A1 has six lanes to the north and four lanes to the south. The A 30 has four lanes. The connecting ramps are single-track.

The motorway junction was laid out as a clover leaf .

The cross is used by around 126,000 vehicles every day.

The Lotte / Osnabrück junction is no longer able to cope with the current traffic figures and will therefore be renewed for 40 million euros over the next few years. The central structure, which only had a remaining period of use until autumn 2019, was replaced and the ramps were newly constructed. After two years of construction, the new bridge was completed in July 2019.

Trivia

The stadium at the Lotter Kreuz

Since 1987 the fun run "Around the Lotter Cross" has been held every year on the first weekend in June. This is a course with a length of 12 km, in which the motorway junction is completely circled. The start and finish is the stadium at Lotter Kreuz in the immediate vicinity northwest of the cross, the home stadium of Sportfreunde Lotte .

The Lotte / Osnabrück motorway junction was originally referred to as Lotter Kreuz and not Osnabrücker Kreuz because of its location in North Rhine-Westphalia . The current name Lotte / Osnabrück arose from the close proximity to Osnabrück and the border location between Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia.
