The state road 2305 (abbreviation: St 2305) is a significant verkehrlich, a total of 47 km of national road in the district of Aschaffenburg and Main Spessart district in Lower Franconia . The St 2305 serves, among other things, as a motorway feeder from the northern Spessart to the A 45 and connects the former federal highway 8 (downgraded to St / L 3308) with the B 276 . Its importance as the main artery of the Kahlgrund is borne out by its joking nickname "Kahlgrund Highway". From the L 3308 to the state border, the road runs about 100 m in Hesse . There it is shown as Landesstraße 2305 (abbreviation: L 2305).

geography

course

It begins at Großkrotzenburg directly on the state border with Hesse and leads past Emmerichshofen Castle towards motorway junction 44 Alzenau-Nord of the federal motorway 45 . As a northern bypass it now runs past Alzenau to Michelbach . The intersection with the St 3202 in the through-town, which was renovated a few years ago, is now four-lane. The further course of the road leads over the so-called Hessenkurve to Mömbris . The state roads 2309 and 2307 branch off there  . The St 2305 then passes through the communities of Blankenbach , Schöllkrippen and Kleinkahl through the Kahltal , partly parallel to the Kahlgrundbahn . Before reaching Wiesen , on the northern Eselshöhe , it divides the route for about 2 kilometers with the Spessart-Höhenstraße . After it has left the community, it leads as part of the German Alps – Baltic Sea holiday route to the left of the Aubache to Frammersbach , where it ends at the federal road 276 .

A disco in Schöllkrippen was named after Staatsstraße 2305 .

State road 2305 leads through built-up areas, meadows and fields as well as through forest areas.

Hessenkurve

Map of the Hessenkurve
The Hessenkurve

As Hesse curve a small portion of the national road 2305 is between Michel Bach and low Steinbach denotes the m in the Hessian for about 500 Main-Kinzig proceeded (ex. L 2305). This is a double S-curve at the foot of the Schanzenkopf (365 m), which causes numerous traffic accidents, especially when it rains.

A carefully worked out state treaty stipulated that a driver who was driving 19 km / h too fast in the Hessenkurve had to pay the warning fee to the Free State. If he drove 20 km / h faster than allowed, a fine of 40 euros was due. These were then to be paid to the regional council in Kassel . Rear-end collisions were regulated by Bavarian inspectors in Alzenau. However, if the driver was intoxicated, the public prosecutor in Hanau, Hesse , took over the further investigations.

On July 1, 2011, an exchange of space replaced the State Treaty. The Hessenkurve is now Bavarian. There were repeated attempts at planning to defuse the Hessenkurve and to expand the state road between Niedersteinbach and Michelbach. This would also have meant relocating the bare bed. These plans were ultimately abandoned. Due to numerous traffic accidents, the Mömbris market has been in talks with the state building authority since 2017 that these plans will now be resumed.

history

Previous route

Disused, still visible State Road 2305, between Emmerichshofen and Alzenau

Since the 1970s, the route of State Road 2305 has changed significantly in many areas.

Until the end of the 1970s, the old "main road of the Kahlgrund" led from Emmerichshofen , diagonally through the forest in a south-east direction to Alzenau. In the course of the new construction of the A 45, that section of the road was closed and, from 1976 to 1978, the Alzenau north bypass was taken directly to Michelbach. This old section of the route coming from Hanau (hence the name Hanauer Straße ) crossed the rail of the Kahl – Schöllkrippen (Lage) railway line at around today's fast-food restaurant and immediately afterwards the road to Kahl branched off at Meerhofsee .

State road 2305 ran as Hanauer Strasse through Alzenau, past the market square and via Kälberau to the former center of Michelbach. From there it led as Spessartstraße through the town to the east in the direction of Niedersteinbach . In the 1980s, a southern bypass was built, which leads from the now striking intersection to the Spessartstrasse junction, and the further section to the Herrnmühle was expanded. Since then, only a small part of the old state road, which has now been converted into a parking lot, can be seen (location) .

Until the end of the 1970s, the level crossing at today's Kahltalzentrum near Mömbris was further to the southeast (location) . From there, the old 2305 state road initially ran south of the railway line, then crossed it again (location) and led roughly like the (northern) Bahnhofstrasse that exists today to Mensengesäß . From there it bent to the south in the direction of Mömbris and crossed the rail and the Kahl again .

The state road between Mömbris and Schimborn was expanded in the early 1980s. The small street at the fairground is a still visible part of this old route (location) .

The winding stretch (Lage) between Blankenbach and Schöllkrippen, which runs further to the east, was defused at Sommerkahl in the early 2000s.

In Schöllkrippen, the old traffic artery led over today's Lindenstrasse through the old town.

Similar to the State Road 2305, there are also old, now disused sections of the St 2307 between Schimborn and Hösbach, which are still visible today.

Planning / construction

State road 2305 leads through the very densely built-up town center of Schimborn . The planning of bypass roads north or south of the place were finally canceled. Instead, demolition houses and land were bought at the narrow points in Schimborn. There, curves were eliminated in two stages and the road was widened. The construction work was completed at the end of 2018.

Attractions
