The increasing mechanization of agriculture as well as the abandonment of small farms and the resulting loss of jobs have contributed greatly to the significant population decline since the middle of the 20th century.
economy
The community is largely agricultural, with sheep and goat breeding and the milk and cheese industry playing important roles. In the last decades of the 20th century, tourism in the form of renting holiday apartments (casas rurales) was added as a source of income. In 2005, a wind farm consisting of 59 systems with an installed capacity of 47,200 kW was put into operation.
history
Little is known about the history of the community, which belonged to the Comunidad de Villa y Tierra de Yanguas in the Middle Ages . The hamlets of Las Aldehuelas , Los Campos , Ledrado , Valloria and Villaseca Somera have been part of the municipality since the 19th century .
Attractions
- The houses of the community are made of quarry stone material, which in earlier times was sealed against the weather by a little earth. In the second half of the 20th century, the earth was mostly replaced by cement mortar.
- The small churches are made of the same building material. The two Romanesque village churches of Valloria and Los Campos are worth mentioning .
