The main reason for the significant population loss in the 20th century is the increasing aridity of the region as well as the mechanization of agriculture and the resulting loss of jobs; The abandonment of small farms also plays a certain role.
economy
The community is traditionally oriented towards agriculture (grain, sunflowers ); cattle breeding is also practiced. In the past, people lived largely as self-sufficient ; today it is mainly produced for urban markets.
history
Celts and Visigoths left no archaeologically usable traces; The foundation walls of a country estate (villa rustica) date from late Roman times . In the 8th century the Moors penetrated into the region and were only pushed back in the 11th century ( reconquista ) . Until the middle of the 20th century the place was called Risoseco de Calatañazor .
