The municipality is located on the Bléou River in the Bouriane countryside on the D801 departmental road, 5 km east of Gourdon , and on the D673 departmental road.

Le Vigan is surrounded by the neighboring communities Payrac in the north, Saint-Projet in the east, Gourdon in the west and Anglars-Nozac and Rouffilhac in the north-west.
