The men's 110-meter hurdles at the 1997 World Athletics Championships was held from August 5th to 7th, 1997 in the Olympic Stadium in the Greek capital, Athens .

World champion was the US defending champion and 1996 Olympic champion Allen Johnson . He won in front of the British World Champion in 1993 , World Cup -third of 1987 , Olympic II of 1988 and two-time European champion ( 1990 / 1994 ) Colin Jackson . Bronze went to the Slovak Igor Kováč .

The existing world championship record was not set and not improved at these world championships. However, the US world champion Allen Johnson missed this world championship record and thus also the world record in the final by only two hundredths of a second.
