Albert, who died on February 5th, 1941 in Krefeld , was the owner of the Jos. Esser department store in Rheindahlen , which he handed over to Karl Christmann in the spring of 1938. The family moved - according to the known sources - to Uerdingen in 1937 . Henriette was deported from Düsseldorf to Izbica to the ghetto on April 22nd, 1942, where she died. | |

She was deported from Aachen to the Theresienstadt ghetto on July 25, 1942 with Transport VII / 2, train Da 71. From there it went with the transport Bp on 09/21/1942 to Treblinka, where she was murdered (disputed: another source names Minsk as the last place of deportation and death).

Hilde Shermanwas born on March 23, 1923 as the daughter of Albert and Paula Zander, née Wiesenfelder, in Wanlo, she had two siblings ( Herbert (* October 18, 1924) and Ruth (* May 8, 1927) ). On December 6th, 1941 she married Kurt Winter (* October 14th, 1912 in Korschenbroich , † April 27th, 1942 in Salaspils ). Together with her husband, she was deported from Düsseldorf to Riga on December 11th, 1941, and later brought alone to Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel . Liberated in April 1945 thanks to Count Folke Bernadotte's work in Sweden . Here she survived, although she suffers from typhus , dysentery , pelvic inflammation and jaundice , her spine is broken and she is emaciated to a skeleton . Hilde published her fate in 1984 in the book "Between Day and Dark. Girl Years in the Ghetto" ISBN 978-3-548-20386-7 . Her second marriage was to William Sherman, and in 1970 she lived in Bogotá , Colombia . Hilde Sherman spent the last years of her life in Jerusalem , where she died on March 11, 2011. | |

Cäcilie Kleebergwas born on February 20th, 1865 in Castrop-Rauxel . With her husband, the businessman Siegmund Grünewald, she ran a white goods shop in Essen. After his death, she moved to live with her daughter in Gindorf , and from there - probably in November 1938 - to the house of the Harf family. On July 25, 1942, Cäcilie was deported from Aachen to Theresienstadt on Transport VII / 2, Zug Da 71 (deportation number 464), where she died on September 20, 1942. | |||

She was married to Louis Spier and they had three children: Franz Robert (* 07.07.1913) , Gertrud (* April 15, 1908) and Margarethe(* September 26th, 1906, emigrated to the Netherlands , deportation Westerbork and Theresienstadt, survived). The family emigrated to Amsterdam in July 1937 , followed by internment in Westerbork in 1944. Flora and her husband were deported to Theresienstadt on February 26th, 1944 and on to Auschwitz on October 28th, 1944, where both were murdered. | |

He married Flora Regine Lyon and they had three children: Franz Robert (* 07.07.1913) , Gertrud (* 15.04.1908) and Margarethe (* 26.09.1906) . The family emigrated to Amsterdam in July 1937, the entire shareholding had to be given up the following year, and internment in Westerbork followed in 1944. Louis and his wife were deported to Theresienstadt on February 26, 1944 and on to Auschwitz on October 28, 1944, where they were both murdered (date of death: October 30, 1944). | |||

Franz Robert Spier- called "Bobby" - was born on 07/07/1913 as the son of the couple Louis Spier and his wife Flora Regine Lyon in Düsseldorf, he had two older sisters ( Gertrud (* 15.04.1908) and Margarethe (* 26.09.1906) ). After being held in " protective custody " for (presumed) tax evasion, Franz Robert emigrated with the family to Amsterdam in 1937. After internment in Westerbork in 1942, he was deported to Auschwitz and murdered there (death date August 17, 1942). The fate of his wife Tieneke and his two sons is not clear. | |||
