List of domestic pigeons

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Different breeds of pigeons. From Meyer's Konversationslexikon .

Worldwide there are probably more than 800 breeds of domestic pigeons , which can be divided into the following categories:

  1. Pedigree pigeons (also beauty or exhibition pigeons), pigeons bred according to a specified standard in order to win prizes at exhibitions,
  2. Carrier pigeons that are started in races over longer distances,
  3. Bottlenose dolphins and flying pigeons that are or have been bred primarily because of their flight styles, and
  4. Farm pigeons or meat pigeons that are primarily kept for meat production.

The list of domestic pigeons contains common and less common names of the breeds and lofts of the domestic pigeon . Races can appear multiple times if they are known by different names. The name of the European Small Animal Breeding Association (EE) is linked , as it is reproduced in the EE list for pedigree pigeons (ELRT). Beats are marked in italics . In the case of multiple answers, an arrow (→) indicates the name used in the ELRT.

Pedigree pigeons

The list below is sorted alphabetically by breed name. If the breed has been confirmed by the European Standard Commission for Pigeons (ESKT) of the European Association for Poultry, Pigeon, Bird, Rabbit and Cavia Breeding (EE), the country coding of the standards-determining authority (SBI) and the number of the follow in brackets Race in the ELRT, followed by the group.

Grouping of the pedigree pigeons

The European Standard Commission for Pigeons (ESKT) differs pigeons into the following groups: the form of pigeons , warts pigeons , chicken pigeons , Pouters , color pigeons , trumpeters , structure pigeons , Mövchentauben and Tümmlertauben . High-flying and play- flying pigeons are integrated in the group of bottlenose dolphins.

The European list for pedigree pigeons

The EE list for pedigree pigeons (ELRT) includes all breeds of domestic pigeons with European standards that have been confirmed by the European Standard Commission for Pigeons (ESKT). The ELRT number is not a strictly sequential number. The list of the ELRT is arranged according to the grouping of the pedigree pigeons. The colored pigeons begin with the number 401, the Bohemian pigeon, and end with the glossy pigeon (D / 0487). This is followed by the drum pigeons with the Bukharan drum pigeon and the number 501.

The standard-determining authority

The Standard Determining Body (SBI) is:

a) the association responsible for a breed in the country of origin registered in the ELRT, with the respective European standard. The country coding of the SBI corresponds to the international coding for motor vehicles .
b) an association that can submit a standard to the European Standards Commission as long as the country of origin cannot meet the conditions for the SBI, e.g. B. " D " for " RUS " or " USA "
c) a standard commission, e.g. B. the European Standard Commission for Pedigree Pigeons (ESKT)
d) an interest group in which the country of origin is represented, e.g. B. the European Modena Club (EMC) or the European Short-billed Seagull Club (EKMC).
