Lutz is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hillsborough County in the US state of Florida with 19,344 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Lutz borders directly on Tampa in the southeast . Interstate 275 , US Highway 41 and Florida State Roads 597 and 685 cross or touch the CDP .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 19,344 inhabitants were distributed among 7,631 households. The population density was 303.2 inh / km². 88.8% of the population identified themselves as whites , 4.8% as African-Americans , 0.4% as Indians and 2.5% as Asian Americans . 1.5% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.1% to several ethnic groups. 12.8% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 33.3% of all households and people aged 65 or over in 23.7% of all households. 74.6% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.04.

25.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 20.2% were 20 to 39 years old, 35.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 19.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 43 years. 49.9% of the population were male and 50.1% were female.

The median annual income was $ 73,810, with 6.6% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 92.59% of the population, 6.39% spoke Spanish and 1.02% had another mother tongue.

On August 15, 1996, the Old Lutz Elementary School was inscribed on the National Register of Historic Places .
