Team squad of the German Federal Chess League 1983/84

The list of the team cadres of the German Federal Chess League 1983/84 contains all players who have played at least one game in the German Federal Chess League 1983/84 (including the players from Königsspringer Frankfurt , who withdrew the team after the 5th round).
The 16 clubs were allowed to register 8 regular players and up to 12 substitute players, but not all of the registered players were used. With 18 foreigners deployed, there was nevertheless a significant increase compared to the previous year. In the Bundesliga this season the Englishmen John Nunn (Hamburger SK in Hamburger SV), Nigel Short (SG Enger / Spenge) and Glenn Flear (Königsspringer Frankfurt), the Pole Jacek Bednarski (Hamburger SK in Hamburger SV), the Czechoslovak Jan Smejkal , the Israeli Lev Gutman (both SG Enger / Spenge), the Icelandic Haukur Angantýsson (Delmenhorster SK) and the Yugoslav Borislav Ivkov (Königsspringer Frankfurt).
The most successful player of the season was Robert Huebner (Solingen SG 1868) with 12.5 points from 14 games. Hübner's teammate Ralf Lau and Mathias Gerusel , who played for SG Porz, each achieved 10.5 points , with Lau playing 13 games, Gerusel 14. With Lubomir Kavalek , Günter Capelan (both Solingen SG 1868), Georg Regis (SK Münster 32), Günter Schütz (FC Bayern Munich), Albrecht Speer and Ulrich Tamm six players scored 100%, but they only completed a few competitions. Kavalek was used four times, Capelan twice, the other named players once each.
As in the previous year, the oldest player of the season was Paul Tröger from Porzer (1913-1992), the youngest player was Lucas Brunner (* 1967), who played for Lasker Steglitz .
