Manuela Uhl (born March 7, 1966 in Ravensburg ) is a German concert and opera singer ( soprano ). The focus of her work is on parts of German late romanticism and classical modernism .

Life

Manuela Uhl grew up in Ravensburg. She studied in Salzburg , Zurich and Freiburg im Breisgau . After guest contracts in Freiburg and Essen and first permanent engagements in the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe (1995–2000) and at the theaters of the state capital Kiel (2000–2003), Manuela Uhl was a member of the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper Berlin from 2006 to 2011 .

The singer has been working internationally as a freelance artist since 2011. In addition to her work as a singer, she has been a professor at the Lübeck University of Music since 2015 .

She lives in Mönkeberg (Schleswig-Holstein) with her husband, the moderator Hans-Jürgen Mende , and their three sons .

She also performed the Four Last Songs by Richard Strauss, Wagner's Wesendonck-Lieder , the seven early songs by Alban Berg, the songs Op. 8 by Arnold Schönberg, 8 orchestral songs by Richard Strauss, 8 concert arias by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the Marienleben by Paul Hindemith.
