Marcel Fässler (bobsledder)

Marcel Fässler (born February 21, 1959 ) is a former Swiss bobsleigh driver and Olympic champion .

Marcel Fässler worked at PTT and was a member of the Zurich Lake Bobsleigh Club. Although he had never achieved a medal placement at an international or the Swiss championship, he was instead of Rolf Strittmatter in the Swiss squad for the 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary. There he came in the four-man of Ekkehard setter on with Kurt Meier and Werner Stocker . In the third run, Fasser's Bob achieved the fastest time of all participants and took the lead, Wolfgang Hoppe from the GDR came within seven hundredths of a second in the fourth run, but Fasser's team won the Olympic gold medal thanks to his third run.
