Matthew Vincent "Matt" D'Agostini (born October 23, 1986 in Sault Ste. Marie , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Ambrì-Piotta from the Swiss National League since May 2016 and is on the position for them of the right winger plays. D'Agostini previously spent seven seasons in the National Hockey League , where he played 331 games for the Canadiens de Montréal , St. Louis Blues , New Jersey Devils , Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabers . In 2015 and 2017 he won the prestigious Spengler Cup in the jersey of the Canadian association selection .
Career
Matt D'Agostini began his career as a hockey player with the Guelph Storm , for which he was active in the Ontario Hockey League from 2006 to 2008 . He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2005 in the sixth round as a total of 190th player by the Canadiens de Montréal .
He first played for two years for their farm team , the Hamilton Bulldogs from the American Hockey League , with whom he won the Calder Cup in the 2006/07 season , before making his National Hockey League debut for the late 2007/08 season Canadiens gave. Although this was his only use this season, the Canadian played in the 2008/09 season already predominantly for the NHL team Montréals. During the 2009/10 season , D'Agostini was finally transferred to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Aaron Palushaj . During the lockout in the 2012/13 season, he joined the SC Riessersee from the 2nd Bundesliga ice hockey . In March 2013 he was transferred to the New Jersey Devils . In July 2013, the Canadian signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins . There, however, he was put on the waiver the following November , so the Buffalo Sabers signed him .
In the summer of 2014, his contract in Buffalo was not extended, so D'Agostini moved to Genève-Servette HC in the Swiss National League A (NLA). In December 2015 he won the Spengler Cup with Team Canada and scored the decisive goal to make it 4: 3 in the final against Lugano.
After two years in Geneva, he moved to HC Ambrì-Piotta within the NLA at the end of May 2016 .
