Merles ( Occitan Mèrles ) is a French commune in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality with 202 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) is located in the arrondissement of Castelsarrasin and is part of the canton of Garonne-Lomagne-Brulhois (until 2015: canton of Auvillar ). The inhabitants are called Merlois .

geography

Merles is about 31 kilometers west-northwest of Montauban . The Garonne limits the municipality to the north. Merles is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Pommevic in the north and north-west, Malause in the north and north-east, Saint-Nicolas-de-la-Grave in the east, Le Pin in the south, Saint-Michel in the south-west, Espalais in the west and north-west and Valence in the north-west .

The A62 autoroute runs through the municipality .
