Lamagistère ( La Magistèra in Occitan ) is a French commune with 1,154 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in the Occitania region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement Castelsarrasin and the canton of Valence . The inhabitants are called Magistériens .

geography

Lamagistère is located about 18 kilometers southeast of Agen on the Garonne , on the Canal latéral à la Garonne and on the Barguelonne river . Lamagistère is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Clermont-Soubiran in the north and northeast, Golfech in the east, Donzac in the south and Sainte-Sixte in the west. The Bordeaux – Sète railway and the former Route nationale 113 (today's D813) run through the municipality .
