Golfech nuclear power plant

Golfech is known for the Golfech nuclear power plant with two pressurized water reactors with an output of approx. 1,300 MW each. Due to its location in the Garonne valley, the power station's cooling towers are among the highest in Europe (178.5 m).

Trivia

The surplus energy contained in the water in the cooling circuit of the power plant is used to heat the swimming pool, the old people's home and the community school.

Golfech is also known for a fish path ( fish ladder ) on the weir of the Garonne canal, which supplies the nuclear power plant with cooling water.
