Messincourt is a French commune with 612 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region . geography
Messincourt is located on the Aulnois River around 16 kilometers east-southeast of Sedan in the east of the Ardennes department on the border with Belgium. The community consists of the village of Messincourt and a few individual farms. The Bois de Messincourt forest covers the entire northern half of the municipality .
Neighboring communities are the districts of Muno and Lambermont of the Belgian community of Florenville in the north and northeast, Pure in the east, Osnes in the southeast, Sachy in the southwest and Escombres-et-le-Chesnois in the northwest.
history
The community belonged to the Sedan district from 1793 to 1801. From 1801 to 1926 it was part of the Sedan arrondissement. After that she was assigned to the Arrondissement Mézières from 1926 to 1942. Since 1942 again the Arrondissement Sedan. From 1793 to 1801 the place was within the canton of Douzy. Since then, the municipality has been within the canton of Carignan.
