Balan is a French commune with 1,618 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ardennes in the Région Grand Est (before 2016: Champagne-Ardenne ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Sedan and the canton Sedan-3 (until 2015: canton Sedan-Est ). The inhabitants are called balanais .
geography
Balan is about two kilometers southeast of the city center of Sedan on the northern edge of the Argonne . The Meuse (French: Meuse ) limits the municipality to the west. Balan is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Sedan in the north and west, Givonne in the north and northeast, Bazeilles in the east and southeast, Noyers-Pont-Maugis in the south and Wadelincourt in the west and southwest.
The National Route 43 runs through the municipality .
