Illy is a French commune with 411 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region (before 2016 Champagne-Ardenne ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Sedan and the canton Sedan-2 (until 2015 Sedan-Nord ).

Illy is about six kilometers north of Sedan on the Belgian border. Illy is surrounded by the neighboring communities Bouillon (Belgium) in the north and northeast, La Chapelle in the east and northeast, Givonne in the east, Sedan in the south, Floing in the southwest and Fleigneux in the west and northwest.

history

Battles took place here both during the Wars of Liberation in 1815 and in 1870.
