Miguel E. Schulz

Miguel E. Schulz (born October 11, 1851 , † December 3, 1922 ) was a Mexican architect and sculptor. As a university lecturer at the Universidad Nacional de México (UNM, now UNAM), he was also its rector for a short time.

biography

After attending the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria (ENP), Schulz studied at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes (ENAP). He taught at ENP, lectured at the Escuela Normal de Profesores and at the Escuela Nacional de Altos Estudios (ENAE).

As Undersecretary in the Ministry of Culture, he was responsible for public education and fine arts from 1904 to 1905, and was also interim director of the ENP and the ENAE during this period. From November 23, 1916 to May 3, 1917 he was interim rector of the UNM.

He was married to Manuela Álvarez . Branch 7 of the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria is named after him.
