Location and dates

Montelepre is 26 km west of Palermo . The residents mainly work in agriculture.

The neighboring municipalities are Carini , Giardinello and Monreale .

history

In the area are remains of settlements from the 4th century BC. Has been found. The present city was founded in the 17th century.

In 1922, Salvatore Giuliano , a Sicilian bandit who was long considered a folk hero, was born here. He is buried in the local cemetery.
