Isola delle Femmine ( Italian "Island of Women") is a municipality in the metropolitan city of Palermo in the region of Sicily in Italy with 7099 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). The municipality takes its name from the Isola delle Femmine , a small island off its coast.

Location and dates

Isola delle Femmine is located 20 km west of Palermo directly on the Tyrrhenian Sea . The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture, fishing or tourism.

The neighboring municipalities are Capaci , Palermo and Torretta .

Isola delle Femmine has a stop on the Palermo- Alcamo railway towards Trapani .

history

The present place was built in the 16th century. At that time a lighthouse was built here and there were some tuna fishing spots.
