San Giuseppe Jato is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 8375 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the metropolitan city of Palermo in the Sicily region .
Location and dates
San Giuseppe Jato is 32 km southwest of Palermo . The residents mainly work in agriculture. Districts ( frazioni ) are Balistreri, Mortilli and the new development areas Traversa II, Traversa III. The municipality is a member of the following federations and associations: Regione Agraria n. 5 - Colline internal - Colline di Monreale ; Associazione Nazionale Città del Vino ; Patto Territorial Alto Belice Corleonese . The connection to Palermo and Sciacca is guaranteed by the SS 624 .
The neighboring municipalities are Monreale and San Cipirello .
history
The current place was founded in 1779. After the landslide of 1838, south of San Cipirello was created as an alternative quarter for the inhabitants of the destroyed districts.
