Sclafani Bagni is an Italian municipality in the metropolitan city of Palermo in the autonomous region of Sicily with 397 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Sclafani Bagni is located 89 km southeast of Palermo , in the southwest of the Parco delle Madonie natural park . The place is built on the rocky top of a mountain at 813 meters. Two rock pinnacles tower over the narrow streets and stairways of Sclafani Bagni. The remains of a fort can be seen on one, the castle on the other.

The residents mainly work in agriculture.

The neighboring municipalities are Alia , Aliminusa , Caccamo , Caltavuturo , Castronovo di Sicilia , Cerda , Montemaggiore Belsito , Polizzi Generosa , Scillato , Valledolmo and Vallelunga Pratameno ( CL ).

history

The village developed around a fort from the 14th century. In 1952 the place was given the nickname Bagni because of the thermal springs that supply sulphurous water.

Attractions

The thermal baths, built in 1848, and the thermal spring are located below (about 350 meters) in a northerly direction, near the SS 120. The system is no longer in operation, the building has fallen into serious disrepair. However, you can swim in a natural pool directly below the source. The water comes to the surface of the earth at around 34 degrees Celsius .
