San Cipirello is a city in the metropolitan city of Palermo in the Sicily region in Italy with 5212 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).
Location and dates
San Cipirello is 33 km southwest of Palermo . The residents mainly work in agriculture. Wine is produced in two cellars (main grape varieties: Syrah , Nero d'Avola , Catarratto , Inzolia ). The municipality belongs to the following associations and organizations: Regione Agraria n. 5 - Colline internal - Colline di Monreale ; Associazione Nazionale Città del Vino ; Patto Territorial Alto Belice Corleonese . The connection to Palermo and Sciacca is guaranteed by the SS 624 . The Romanian town of Murfatlar has been a partner municipality since 2006 .
The neighboring municipalities are Monreale and San Giuseppe Jato .
history
The place was created after a landslide on March 11, 1838 destroyed large parts of San Giuseppe li Mortilli, today's San Giuseppe Iato. In 1864 the settlement declared itself an independent municipality.
Attractions
- Municipal museum with finds from Monte Iato , currently still temporarily housed. A new building has already been completed. The Area archeologica di Monte Iato is located in the municipality.
