Palazzo Adriano is a city in the metropolitan city of Palermo in the Sicily region in Italy with 1928 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).
Location and dates
Palazzo Adriano is 98 km south of the provincial capital Palermo . The residents mainly work in agriculture. There is a hospital, a primary and a middle school and two kindergartens.
In addition to various other locations in Sicily, the 1990 Oscar-winning film Cinema Paradiso by Giuseppe Tornatore was shot in Palazzo Adriano , which made the large market square “Piazza Umberto I” world famous. The place is near the nature reserve Monti di Palazzo Adriano & Valle del Sosio .
The neighboring communities are Bivona ( AG ), Burgio (AG), Castronovo di Sicilia , Chiusa Sclafani , Corleone , Lucca Sicula (AG) and Prizzi .
After the rail traffic to Palazzo Adriano was discontinued in 1959, the place can only be reached by road today.

Albanians settled here in the 15th century . The nobles, clergy, farmers, craftsmen and merchants fled from the Ottomans and are called Arbëresh .
