location
The protected area is located on the outskirts northwest of Allensbach and is separated from the village by the B 33 . It has a total area of 4.5 hectares and has been designated as a nature reserve since June 1, 1978. It is completely from the conservation area Bodanrück enclosed and is a valuable addition to nearby protected areas such as Wollmatinger Ried , Mettnau or Mindelsee . It is drained from the Nägelriedbach into the Gnadensee . An expansion of the B 33 on the existing route would directly affect the Nägelried.
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is the preservation of the Nägelried as a habitat for rare plant communities and rare water bird species. The Nägelried has a shape typical of the Lake Constance region with open water areas and siltation zones as well as a pronounced belt of reeds. The water surface is covered with water lilies , the bank areas with reed beds and large sedge. The Nägelried is also home or resting place for a rich bird life.
