Nastassja Jakimawa ( Belarusian Настасься Якімава ; English Anastasia Yakimova; born November 1, 1986 in Minsk ) is a Belarusian tennis player .

Career

Jakimawa, who turned pro in 2004 and prefers to play on the hard courts, had her best year in 2006. She achieved her best scores in the WTA world rankings in singles with 49th place and in doubles with 67th place. Although she has since fallen behind, at the end of 2012 she was still the third-best Belarusian tennis player after Viktoria Azaranka and Volha Hawarzova .

She won 13 singles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit . She celebrated her greatest successes on the WTA Tour when she reached the quarter-finals in Barcelona 2009 (two-set defeat against Roberta Vinci ) and in Portorož 2010 (three-set defeat against Xenia Perwak ). Her best result in a Grand Slam tournament came in 2007 at the Australian Open , when she moved into the third round after beating Ai Sugiyama , who was placed 23rd . Her subsequent game against Lucie Šafářová she had to give up after the first set (3: 6) due to injury.

In the German Bundesliga she played for the TC Blau-Weiss Bocholt , with which she became German team champion in 2012.

Since 2004 she has also played 23 games for the Belarusian Fed Cup team , in which she celebrated ten wins.

After her elimination from the ITF tournament in Antalya, Turkey in November 2012, she did not play a match on the women's tour until August 2015. After the long break, she was able to win her first tournament in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria .

She played her last tournament so far in 2018 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where she reached the final with her partner Carlota Molina Megias , but there in three sets with 6: 1, 5: 7 and [5:10] of the Czech pairing Klara Hajkova and Aneta Laboutkova lost.

Since August 2018 it has not been included in the world rankings.
