Hütter Wohld

The Hütter Klosterteiche nature reserve is a nature reserve in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania four kilometers southeast of Bad Doberan . The protected area in the municipality of Bartenshagen-Parkentin in the Parkentin district covers 58  hectares and was designated on August 24, 1999. It is named after the Hütten settlement on the eastern edge of the Hütter Wohld forest area , where the ponds are located. This Hütter Wohld is the easternmost part of the cooling landscape protection area , which includes large parts of the mountain ridge of the same name.

The state of the area is considered to be good. Extensive renovation work to improve the area was carried out from 2003 to 2005. A nature trail presents the special features of the area.

According to EU law, the areas are part of the FFH area Hütter Wohld and the small water landscape west of Hanstorf .

history

The ponds were first mentioned in 1268 and were used by Doberan Monastery until the 16th century. Due to the secularization associated with the Reformation , it was abandoned from 1552. The ponds were restored at the beginning of the 20th century. A more extensive maintenance was carried out from 1990 by ABM workers . Heavy rains led to the dam bursting in 1998, the consequences of which were only remedied in 2005.

Flora and fauna

In the south of the nature reserve there are wet meadows , to which an alder -lined creek valley connects to the north . One area in the south is planted with alder forest. To the north is the extensive pond landscape.
