The nature reserve Teterower Heidberge is a nature reserve in the Teterower Heidberge in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The surrounding villages are Thürkow , Teterow and Appelhagen . The legal determination of the 200 hectare area took place on September 7, 1990 with the aim of preserving a deciduous forest with interspersed kettle bogs and adjacent grassland .

The condition of the area is classified as good, even if the boiler bogs are still partially drained and public use as a recreational area leads to impairments.

Several hiking trails allow entry. The Teterower Bergring borders directly on the area to the southeast .

history

The area was created by the last ice age . Coming from the north-east, the glacier pushed up high- relief moraines , which today divide the nature reserve as ramparts up to 100 meters high at intervals of 200 meters. Depressions without drainage in between are moored after the ice has thawed.

Human settlement has been documented for the Teterow area since the Neolithic . However, the slopes in today's protected area made it difficult to use. Wiebeking's map from 1786 shows the areas wooded. For centuries, natural management was carried out by Gut Appelhagen until 1945 as the so-called Appelhäger Forest . With the land reform , the forest was divided among new farmers who, however, hardly felled any wood. The Heidberge were military training grounds from 1977 to 1989. Due to the low forest use, the areas are now comparable to a natural forest . Dry slopes to the north were used as hats : a shepherd from Teterow drove goats into the Heidberge.

Flora and fauna

Woodruff beech forest grows on the majority of the protected area . In the more humid northern areas this turns into ash-beech forest . Species worth highlighting are lungwort , spiked devil's claw , woolly buttercup , one berry , sprouting moss and forest hyacinth . Milkweed and foam herb grow in swollen areas . Several boiler bogs in different stages of development are interspersed. Typical species there are mud sedge , cranberry , round-leaved sundew and rosemary heather .

The former Hutungen on the eastern edge covered semi-arid grass. Quiver grass and golden thistle are remarkable . 237 types of fungus were detected. In the amphibian fauna , the common frog , moor frog , fire- bellied toad and common toad stand out. In the area hatch 72 bird species, including spotted eagle , crane , eagle , woodcock , black woodpecker , green woodpecker , great spotted woodpecker , lesser spotted woodpecker , wryneck and red-breasted flycatcher . The corncrake and snipe can be found on the grassland .

Ownership

The areas of the nature reserve are managed by the Foundation for Environment and Nature Conservation MV.
