Reppeliner Bachtal nature reserve

The Reppeliner Bachtal nature reserve is a 70 hectare nature reserve in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, three kilometers north of Ticino . It was placed under protection on September 28, 1990 with the aim of protecting and developing a predominantly natural side valley of the Recknitz .
The current state of the area is assessed as satisfactory, as nutrient inputs and transverse structures have a negative effect on the flora and fauna of the stream.
With the exception of one path near Stormstorf, there are no public paths in the protected area.
history
The Reppeliner Bachtal is embedded in a ground moraine that was created during the Ice Age and is richly structured by moors, brooks and brooks. Scattered in the stream are larger, freely washed stones. In the Middle Ages the fast flowing stream was used to operate water mills. The Wolfsberger Mill to the south was in operation until 1930. After a fire, a holiday property was built at the same location in GDR times, which used water power to generate electricity until the 1970s. Transverse structures from this period can still be found today. The surrounding forest is only marginally managed.
Flora and fauna
Alder and ash forests grow alongside the stream. The stream itself is lined with spring corridors with bitter foam herb , milkweed and winter horsetail . Shallow swamp moors are home to numerous rare species of moss. Until the 1980s, numerous fish species were detected in the water, including brown and rainbow trout , eel , tench , aland , roach , perch and brook lamprey . The direct discharge of liquid manure led to the extinction of these species, so that currently only sticklebacks , merle and moderlieschen are represented. The breeding birds in the area are kingfisher and gray wagtail . The otter lives in the Reppeliner Bachtal.
