The Gutower Moor and Schöninsel nature reserve is a nature reserve in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania about two kilometers southwest of the town of Güstrow . It was designated on July 7, 1990 and since its expansion in 2000 has covered an area of 360 hectares. The protection goal is to maintain and develop the western part of the Inselsee , the Schöninsel and the adjacent bog . The area is a habitat for numerous animal and plant species and an important resting place for geese and ducks. The state of the area is classified as satisfactory due to the extensive nutrient inputs from the surrounding areas. The Schöninsel can be entered, the Gutower Moor area is not accessible. Two information boards point out the protected area.

The nature reserve is part of the FFH area Inselsee Güstrow .

history

The Inselsee was created by excavation over 10,000 years ago during the last ice age . The first settlements by the zirzipans are documented in the east of the protected area by the Bölkower castle wall , which formed the Bisdede settlement, from the years 800 to 1200. In Wiebeking's map from 1786, the Gutower Moor area is free from forests except for the Stubbenbruch in the west. Peat was extracted to a small extent. Cattle were kept on the Schöninsel. Trap fishing takes place on the Inselsee .

Flora and fauna

The large spawning herb diving corridors with specular spawning herb , Canadian waterweed and chandelier algae , which were originally found in the deeper zones of the Inselsee , have declined sharply in recent years. In flatter areas there are floating leaf zones with pond rose and reed beds . The bank areas are covered with hemlock-mock cyprus sedge, swamp sedge and reed beds . Noteworthy aquatic plants are the middle mermaid , crayfish claws , coniferous marsh rush and pine fronds . In Gutower Moor there are Kleinseggenriede rich in brown moss with still active peat formation and bushes with laurel and gray willows . To the west there are areas with moor birch and alder . The occurrence of broad-leaved and stiff-leaved orchid , swamp-sitter and swamp-blood-eye are remarkable in the bog area . The flora on the Schöninsel is determined by lean grassland and field trees. Numerous resting and breeding birds can be found on the lake surfaces, including geese, diving ducks and sawyers. Notable breeding birds are the bearded tit and bag tit , bluethroat , great reed warbler , kingfisher , common snipe , swirl , black kite , water rail and bittern . The otter has been found sporadically.
