Niclas Jönsson (born August 4, 1967 in Bankeryd ) is a Swedish racing driver .

Career

Jönsson began racing in 1977 as a kart driver. After winning the Swedish karting championship three times, he made his Formula 3 debut in 1989 . There he won the Scandinavian racing series in 1990 and 1991 and moved up to the Swedish Touring Car Championship in 1992 . From 1999 Jönsson competed in the American Le Mans Series and the Indy Racing League . In 2003 he took part in the Speed ​​World Challenge , in which he finished second in the drivers' standings behind Bill Auberlen the following year .

Jönsson holds a master's degree in psychology with a focus on speech therapy .
