Vanuatu took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics in the Chinese capital Beijing with threeathletes namedby the Vanuatu Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (VASANOC), two women and one man.
The two track and field athletes Moses Kamut and Elis Lapenmal received a wild card for the 100 meter competitions because of their silver medals, which they won at the Pacific Mini Games in 2005 . Tommy got her starting place on the basis of a decision of a commission consisting of the World Table Tennis Federation and the International Olympic Committee .
Since 1988 it was the sixth participation of the island state in the Summer Olympics .
Flag bearer
