Germany participated in the VI. 1952 Winter Olympics in the Norwegian capital Oslo with 53 athletes, twelve women and 41 men, participated in eight sports.

Since 1928 it was Germany's fourth participation in the Winter Olympic Games . Only athletes from the Federal Republic of Germany took part. On February 8, 1952, when a conference between the two NOK and IOC members was planned in Copenhagen, the GDR officials made the IOC members wait, which led to the talks not being held.

Flag bearer

Cross-country skier Helmut Böck carried the flag of the Federal Republic of Germany during the opening ceremony in the Bislett Stadium .
