history
Open Air Arbon: 1980-1989
From 1980 there was a steadily growing open-air festival in Arbon. Artists such as Gillan (1981), Eloy (1982), Alexis Korner (1982), Peter Hammill (1983), Status Quo (1986), Rory Gallagher (1987) and Bryan Adams (1988) performed here.
OpenAir in Tufertschwil: 1995-2005
The event began as a small village festival and over time attracted more and more visitors. During this time the band Blaumeisen had a multitude of appearances, also greats like Status Quo , Boney M , Europe and Clawfinger could be seen at the festival. In 2004 the band Die Toten Hosen performed during their Friss oder Dies tour in Tufertschwil. In 2004 the festival had a total of 40,000 visitors over three days. In 2005 the German Fanta 4 and the A-Capella formation tuningforks were among the guests.
OpenAir in Jonschwil: 2006–2007
2006
the Openair Tufertschwil took place in Jonschwil for the first time . Since the festival caused intense damage to the fields after continuous rain in 2005, it had to be relocated to Jonschwil in Degenau. The program in the following year meant a high loss for the organizer ( Status Quo , Dr. Feelgood , BAP , Jamiroquai , July , Tokio Hotel ). The festival founder and long-standing organizer handed the festival over to the makers of OpenAir St. Gallen .
2007
Another edition took place in Jonschwil under the new name SummerDays Festival. With 16,000 visitors (8,000 per festival day) the festival was not sold out. There were: Gary Moore , Jethro Tull , The Hooters , Florian Ast, Bootleg Beatles on Friday and Nena , Polo Hofer & the Butter Band, Sunrise Avenue , Plüsch, Bagatello, Starch, Frantic and the Tiger Ensemble from St. Pauli on Saturday.
After the festival, the new organizers took stock and decided not to hold a festival in 2008. From 2009 the event should take place in Arbon directly on Lake Constance.
