Oxford County is a Regional Municipality (regional authority - roughly comparable to the German district ) in the Canadian province of Ontario with 105,719 inhabitants. The seat of the administration is in the city of Woodstock .

This region is located about 150 km southwest of Toronto in the so-called Québec-Windsor Corridor , the most densely populated region in Canada. The landscape is characterized by extensive, intensive farming, with isolated dairy and fattening farms in between. A right-angled road network represents the local development. The highways Highway 401 and 403 connect Oxford County to the national trunk road network. There are two railway lines (almost only goods traffic) between Toronto and the American state of Michigan .

The climate is continental, with severe winters and warm, sometimes humid summers (see Woodstock article for climate table ). The largest flowing water is the Thames River , which has its source in several tributaries in the northern surroundings of this region and is regulated in Oxford County by means of two reservoirs. Except for campsites of local importance, there is no significant tourism.

Industry, commerce and public institutions are concentrated in the three cities of Woodstock , Tillsonburg and Ingersoll . The focus is on the light industry and the auto industry with two large manufacturing plants (Toyota and General Motors). In addition to these three cities, there are various smaller settlements with local utilities. The outside area is relatively heavily sprawled; Along the side streets one can often find residential houses - at a loose distance.
