Prince Edward County is a city in southeastern Ontario .

The city is located on a peninsula in Lake Ontario near Belleville and is thus in the Québec-Windsor corridor .
history
Prince Edward County was actually a county until 1997, but was then merged into one municipality as part of the major Ontario territorial reform and received city rights .
Residents
Prince Edward Island has the lowest population and density of any single level parish in Ontario. There is also no urban center, but a number of scattered villages.
The city's most famous resident was John Macdonald , who took up a legal practice in Picton.
