Pruillé-le-Chétif is located in the Arrondissement of Le Mans and belongs to the canton of Le Mans-7 (until 2015: Canton Allonnes ). The inhabitants are called Pruilléens .

Pruillé-le-Chétif is located about six kilometers west-southwest of Le Mans city center . Pruillé-le-Chétif is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Trangé in the north, Rouillon in the east, Allonnes in the southeast, Saint-Georges-du-Bois in the south, Étival-lès-le-Mans in the southwest and Fay in the west.
The A11 car route runs along the north-western edge of the municipality .
