La Bazoge is a French municipality with 3641 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Sarthe in the region Pays de la Loire . Their inhabitants are called Bazogiens .

geography

La Bazoge is about ten kilometers north of Le Mans and 34 kilometers south of Alençon . The Sarthe flows east two kilometers away.

Population development

The population of La Bazoge increased from 1990 to 1999, from around 2,750 to around 2,900.

traffic

Between August 14, 1915 and October 3, 1943, La Bazoge had a connection to the railway network via the Le Mans – Ségrie narrow-gauge railway operated by the Compagnie des Tramways de la Sarthe . Today the nearest train stations are in the neighboring towns of Neuville-sur-Sarthe and Le Mans.

The Autoroute A11 from Le Mans to Chartres runs 5 km south and the motorway from Le Mans to Laval 8 km south-west. The A28 autoroute leads from Le Mans to Rouen directly to the east of the village .

Partnerships

The Lower Saxony community of Martfeld ( district of Diepholz ) has had a lively partnership with La Bazoge for several years. The same goes for the English community of Bardney .
