Rożyńsk Wielki [ ˈrɔʐɨɲsk ˈvjɛlki ] ( German  Groß Rosinsko , 1938 to 1945 Großfreiendorf ) is a place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the urban and rural municipality Gołdap (Goldap) in the Gołdap district .

Geographical location

Rożyńsk Wielki is located in the northeast of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , ten kilometers southwest of the district town of Gołdap (Goldap) .

history

Groß Rosinsko was founded as early as 1600 . Before 1945 it was a widespread village. In 1874, Groß Rosinsko came to the Grabowen district (in Polish: Grabowo ), which - renamed "Arnswald district" in 1939 - belonged to the Goldap district in the Gumbinnen district of the Prussian province of East Prussia until 1945 .

In 1910, a total of 198 inhabitants were registered in Groß Rosinsko, the number of which rose to 208 by 1933 and was 173 in 1939.

On June 3 (officially on July 16) of the year 1938, Groß Rosinsko received the name "Großfreiendorf" as part of the National Socialist renaming campaign. As a result of the war, the village and southern East Prussia became part of Poland in 1945 and has been called "Rożyńsk Wielki" since then. The place is now the seat of a Schulzenamt (Polish: Sołectwo) and a place in the network of the city and rural municipality Gołdap in the powiat Gołdapski , until 1998 the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship belongs.

church

The predominantly Protestant population before 1945 was parish in the parish of the church in Grabowen (Polish: Grabowo) in the parish of Goldap within the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Catholic church members were oriented towards the parish church in Goldap in the Diocese of Warmia .

Since 1945 the majority of the population of Rożyńsk Wielki has been Catholic. The newly established parish in Grabowo in the Gołdap Dean's Office in the Diocese of Ełk (Lyck) of the Catholic Church in Poland is responsible for them. The few Protestant church members are part of the parish in Gołdap , a subsidiary of the parish in Suwałki in the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .

traffic

Rożyńsk Wielki is a little away from the traffic on a side road that branches off the Polish voivodship road DW 650 (former German Reichsstraße 136 ) at Konikowo (Kleeberg) and via Jabłońskie (Jeblonsken , 1938 to 1945 Urbansdorf) and Włosty (Flösten , 1938 to 1945 Bornberg) to Boćwinka ( Bodschwingken , 1938 to 1945 Herandstal , also located on the DW 650).

Until 1945 there was a rail connection via the station in Grabowen (1938 to 1945: Arnswald, Polish: Grabowo) on the Angerburg – Goldap railway line , which is no longer operated today as a result of the war and has been almost completely dismantled.
