About this picture

Rohrberg is a municipality in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark village of Rohrberg, a street village with a church, is located around 20 kilometers south of the district town of Salzwedel on the B 248 . The Hartau, a creek about two meters wide and one meter deep, flows through the street village.

Community structure

The community is on the Romanesque Road . Since the regional reform in 2009, it has consisted of these districts:

history

Rohrberg was first mentioned in a document in 1248 as Rorberge , when the Counts of Dannenberg transferred three hooves , which they carried the von Bardeleben as fiefs , to the Heiliggeiststift near Salzwedel. The village was founded earlier, as the church was built in the second half of the 12th century.

In 1252 civibus de Rorberge (citizens of Rohrberg) were mentioned, as can be seen from a copy of a document by Simon Friedrich Hahn from 1724. The historian Adolph Friedrich Riedel names the year 1212 for the document and quotes Johann Friedrich Pfeffinger, who in turn refers to Hahn and cites him incorrectly for the first time, as Siegmund Wilhelm Wohlbrück has already shown . From today's perspective, it looks as if Pfeffinger had read the Roman year MCCLII as 1212 at Hahn. And so it happened that in 2012 the 800th anniversary of the town was celebrated.

In the Findling, Heiko Meyer reported on Hartmut Bock's research into local history in the Secret State Archive of Prussian Cultural Heritage in Berlin-Dahlem. In the surviving questionnaires that Johann Christoph Bekmann put together for his book about the Altmark, there were handwritten reports of a pastor Harnack about Rohrberg from the years 1711 or 1740. He wrote: “Rohrberg occupy two miles from Salzwedel, consisting of 42 inhabited farms, is said to have been a town before that, and to have belonged to the Witthums seat of Danneberg at that time, of which there is an old document written in parchment, in which the inhabitants of the time, Cives (town dwellers) are called. The pastor also reports on a former castle. In the associated so-called large woods there are still some rudar (remains) from a castle that stood there, where you can still see a tree-lined wall next to a ditch, and this area is still called the castle site. This castle is known as the Kathinkenburg. The last traces were probably a three meter high wall that enclosed about ten acres of land. Around 1900 this area was leveled by the owner of the field. "

Half of the village burned down in 1709. Harnack reports: “Anno 1709, April 19th, it was infected by a boss and burned down almost half in an hour and a half, but the murder burner a year later, because he reported from his own wives, and received wages, and because of of these and other crimes committed in the royal offices of Dambeck were burned alive. "

Incorporations

The municipality Rohrberg was born on 25 July 1952 from the district Salzwedel in the circuit blocks reclassified. On July 1, 1994, the community came to the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel.

By a non amendment agreement, the municipal councils of the municipalities decided Ahlum (6 May 2008), Bierstedt and Rohrberg (23 April 2008) (2008 May 14) that their communities and added to a new community named Rohrberg be united . This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on January 1, 2009.

The municipality area increased from 10.49 km² to 38.29 km².
