Romanowo ( Russian Рома́ново ) is a village (selo) in the Altai region ( Russia ) with 5624 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The place is about 190 km as the crow flies west-southwest of the regional administration center Barnaul in the eastern part of the Kulunda steppe .
Romanowo council is based in the Rajons Romanowski and seat and only town in the rural community selsowet Romanowski .
history
The village emerged from two settlements, Tschudskije Prudy and Abramowa (also Abramowskaja) Dubrawa, which were founded in 1886 by resettlers from southern central Russia. In 1899 the settlements were merged under the name Romanowo in honor of the Russian tsarist Romanov dynasty . Since 1944 Romanowo has been the center of a Rajon.

Romanowo is on the regional road R371 Aleisk - Rodino - Kulunda - Kazakh border. In a north-westerly direction a road branches off into the neighboring, 30 km distant Rajon center Sawjalowo .
