history

In the middle of the 18th century, the villages of Bolschepanyuschewo and Malopanjuschewo were built near the present-day location. The roads from Barnaul to the then important mining centers of Smeinogorsk and Kolywan (Kolywan-Voskressensk plant) led past them.

The official founding year of the place is 1913, when a settlement was built near Malopanyuschewo in connection with the construction of a train station. The Novonikolajewsk (now Novosibirsk ) - Barnaul - Semipalatinsk railway line opened in 1915 and later became part of the Turksib .

In connection with the development of the area into one of the most important sugar beet growing areas in Siberia from the 1920s and the construction of a sugar factory (in operation since 1931) and other food industry businesses, the population grew rapidly. In 1926 the place received the status of an urban-type settlement and in January 1939 city rights under its current name.
